Here's a delicious Mediterranean treat made with Garbanzo Beans, fresh roasted red peppers, and the smoky, tart and slightly spiciness our Hot Smoked Paprika, Sumac, and Cumin. Enjoy the bold flavors and the wonderful spices used in this delightful treat!


1 Large Red Pepper

2/3 cup (plus additional for drizzle) Extra Virgin Olive Oil

2 cups Canned Garbanzo Beans (drained and rinsed)

2 tsp Minced Garlic

1 Tblspn Lemon Juice

2 tsp Hot Smoked Paprika

2 tsp Sumac

1/2 tsp Cumin Seed Powder

Salt to taste

Directions: Roast The Peppers: Cut the peppers into one inch wide strips. Place them in a shallow baking dish and drizzle them generously with olive oil. Bake the peppers in a 450 degree oven for 20 minutes, turning them over halfway through the cooking time. Remove them from the oven and let them cool. Make The Hummus: Place all ingredients (including the cooled roasted peppers) in a food processor. Pulse the processor until you achieve the desired consistency, adding more olive oil, if needed. Add additional salt to taste. Transfer to a serving bowl and chill. Serve with additional olive oil drizzled on top. This hummus goes well with crackers, fresh vegetables, toasted flat bread or pita bread. Store the hummus in the refrigerator.
